Why It's Fine To Fail

"Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end" - Denis Waitley.

The first time I failed at a task, I was convinced that I would not be able to fulfill my dreams. I was convinced that I would just be an average girl, for the remainder of my life. I was convinced that it was the end for me. No one had told me otherwise, which is why I felt even more troubled. However, as I grew up, I realise that failure is not as negative as everyone makes it out to be. In fact, failing has its benefits.

Failure is inevitable. Throughout your life, you are bound to fail at something, whether it be a chemistry exam or repairing your laptop. Everyone has failed, and some people are afraid to admit it. Even some of our hugest inspirations have previously failed, to achieve where they are now. Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, had his first book rejected by twenty-seven different publishers. Twenty-seven. This man is now one of the most legendary children's author. Some classics include 'The Cat In The Hat' and "Horton Hears A Who!', and in total, his books have sold over six hundred million copies. It was failure that stimulated Dr. Seuss to continue writing - it was his passion. Failure produced his success story.

Failure makes you stronger. People react differently when they do not succeed. Some give up. Others accept that they have failed, and gain plenty of strength. You should aspire to be the latter person. If you get knocked to the ground, you should bounce back up! Failure should not hinder you from achieving anything in life. Instead, it should motivate you to accomplish your targets, and guide you in the right direction.

You learn exceedingly more from failure than success. This is one of the greatest reasons why failure is acceptable. By not being flawless from the beginning, you will realise your mistakes and then endeavour not to repeat them. It's like starting with a new job. When you first start, your supervisor may point out some errors that you made. This is not to sadden you, but instead to help you. The next time you need to do that task, you will know not to repeat what you previously did, and thus doing it the correct way. Learn from your mistakes, and then work towards your goals!

You will take more chances if you are not afraid of failure. People who are scared of failing play everything safe. They refuse to take risks. If you are not afraid of failing, your life will be filled with much more excitement, as you won't think about the consequences that come with your actions. Sign up for that dance competition, even if you know your dancing will bring pain to people's eyes. These kind of people are a pleasure to be around and make your life much more enjoyable. Don't let the fear of failure prevent you doing from anything!

Failing makes succeeding much more sensational. To finally succeed after many many times of failure, is a very satisfying sensation - "sweet success", as it's called. To realise that after the uphill battles you've faced, that it's payed off... nothing can put this feeling into words! It was all worth it. All the failing was totally worth it.
